The Circular Economy Hotspot Catalonia 2021 is the annual event that brings together companies, institutions, and people ready to put into practice solutions and strategies to consolidate the circular economy.
After The Netherlands, Luxemburg, Scotland, and Belgium, Barcelona hosted this edition of the Circular Economy Hotspot. This 5th edition took place from 15 to 18 November in Barcelona, where we saw some of the leading European actors transforming the current economic and production model.
Hotspot Catalonia organized 20 tours along 9 different sectors of the economic activity: Agrifood, Fashion & Textile, Energy, Mobility, Building, Packaging, Water Cycle, Chemical and Public Initiatives. These guided tours allowed visitors to discover successful circular initiatives first-hand.
In the fashion/textile sector, Pasqual Arnella, as a supplier of sustainable mannequins made of recycled paperpaste, was selected to present its sustainable project fisrt-hand.
The participants visited our facilities to learn about the whole process, from the moment that we collect the raw material (recycled paper and cardboard) until we pack the final product to send it to the final customer.
An enriching experience, both for us and for the participants of the itinerary, which allowed us to explain first-hand our commitment to circularity. The visit consisted of a tour of our factory in Castellar del Vallès, where the participants were able to see how we turn recycled paper and cardboard into Paperpaste Mannequins, going through all the stages of the process: molding, drying, finishing and packaging.
During the visit, we couldn’t miss a little bit of history of the company, from when we started manufacturing the classic cardboard horses in 1892 to the development of the first prototype of a Paperpaste Mannequin in 2019.
The Circular Economy Hotspot Catalonia 2021 is a perfect event to explore business initiatives, R&D projects, government strategies and collaborations that foster the circular economy.
The second half of the event took place at the Smart City Expo World Congress. As an international forum for business and discussion, it connected in Barcelona more than 400 companies and 300 speakers involved in addressing the most pressing urban environmental issues and giving the participants a unique opportunity to create new synergies.
The celebration of this event in Catalonia reinforces the Catalonia Circular hub, a meeting point for companies, institutions and individuals who provide solutions and strategies to implement and consolidate the circular economy in Catalonia.
