Behind the project…
For Pasqual Arnella this project has been a challenge which started to blossom in October 2020. The Design Museum of Barcelona, with whom we have already collaborated in other projects with more than satisfactory results, trusted us for the creation of the mannequins for this important exhibition.
We developed 75 custom-made heads to exhibit the collection of hats and 10 bust forms that would wear designs created by Cristóbal Balenciaga from the late thirties to 1968.
Our mannequins, made of paper pulp, with their particular finish and texture, bring to the exhibition the touch of naturalness and elegance that can only be achieved with this material.
An intense work of communication and coordination with the Barcelona Design Museum, together with the passion and enthusiasm of everyone behind this project, made possible the open up of this magnificent exhibition.
This is the first international exhibition focusing on Cristóbal Balenciaga’s hats and headdresses, created in the haute couture house’s millinery departments in Paris and Madrid from the late 1930s to the closure of the Balenciaga fashion house in 1968.
The exhibition ‘Balenciaga. The elegance of the hat’ will be at the Barcelona Design Museum until October 3rd and will then be on view at the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museoa in Getaria from May 2022.
The mannequin heads were carefully developed and tailor-made for the exhibition, following the Egg Style line which adds to the exhibition an elegant and sophisticated touch in harmony with Cristóbal Balenciaga designs.

10 unique pieces of our Haltia model, painted in white, with natural pine wood arms and head. This development entail a 100% handmade work to join the neck of the mannequin with the same heads of the rest of the exhibition, perfectly fit and without any relief, as if it were the same piece.
